Gay Straight Alliance (GSA) is extremely surprised at the information that a new organization has already been founded and registered which will deal with organizing the Belgrade Pride Parade, especially because a large number of existing LGBT activists and organizations, including GSA, were not informed about the founding of this new organization.

Gay Straight Alliance (GSA) has issued an invitation today to all relevant LGBT organizations in Serbia for a meeting at the beginning of March 2011 in order to talk about models for organizing Pride Parade 2011.

Gay Straight Alliance (GSA) called today on the Democratic Party (DS) and Socialist Party of Serbia (SPS) to revise their programs and other important party documents at their upcoming party assemblies in accordance with European standards on human rights and to include anti-discrimination provisions concerning the LGBT community and other minority groups.

The Organizing Committee of the Belgrade Pride Parade held today their last regular press conference prior to the event scheduled for the 10th October 2010.

Pride Parade will be held on 10th October 2010 in Park Manjež in Belgrade, from where, after the initial addresses of guests from the country, region and abroad, the walk will begin along Nemanjina Street, to Kneza Miloša Street and Masarikova Street, and the whole event will end with a party in Student Cultural Centre (Studentski kulturni centar – SKC).

We write to you regarding certain information which appeared in the media (daily newspapers “Alo“ in the issue from 16th September 2010, attached) with a request to urgently start an inquiry into the case of Miroljub Petrović, who calls himself the director of Institute for natural medicine and of Center for natural studies, and who apparently runs the so-called Center for curing “homosexualism“ and is currently building a clinic on Fruška gora which will also deal with this “business“.

Organizing Committee (OC) of Pride Parade 2010 wishes to address the Serbian public, and especially citizens of Belgrade, regarding the increasing manipulations which are appearing on rightwing websites and fora, as well as in certain media, that represent malevolent attempts to stop the Parade from taking place.

Organizers of Pride Parade 2010 in Belgrade announced the date and place of the Parade today at a press conference held in the cafe Victor on Kalemegdan.

Gay Straight Alliance (GSA) most severely condemns the assault against German citizens D.M. (18) and underaged P.M. which happened yesterday on Ada Ciganlija in Belgrade.

Members of the parliamentary Board of defence and security have given their support to holding the Pride Parade in Belgrade and announced that the state will do everything to ensure safety at the event.

Gay Straight Alliance (GSA) and Queeria – center for the promotion of culture of nonviolence and equality (Queeria center), supported by the National Democratic Institute (NDI) and the Dutch People’s Party for Freedom and Equality (VVD), held a press conference entitled “The role of city authorities in the organization of Pride Parade” today in the Belgrade Media Center.

President of the Republic of Serbia Boris Tadić met with a delegation of gay and lesbian organizations from Serbia today, and expressed his support for Pride Parade in Belgrade.
