Tadić supports Pride Parade

President of the Republic of Serbia Boris Tadić met with a delegation of gay and lesbian organizations from Serbia today, and expressed his support for Pride Parade in Belgrade.

“It is jointly concluded that Pride Parade will be civilizational step forward that will show that Serbia is becoming a safe society for all its citizens regardless of their diversity and sexual orientation”, it is stated in the press release of President Press Service of Serbia.

One of the topics of the meeting was the status of GLBT persons, and the activists have informed the President about receiving daily threats and the difficulties they have in everyday life.

The activists also informed Tadić about the steps that the GLBT movement took in previous years to increase the visibility of the problems that this population is facing every day.

The delegation consisted of Lazar Pavlović of Gay Straight Alliance, Boban Stojanovic and Alisa Kockar from Queeria center and Predrag Azdejković from Gay Lesbian Info Centre.
