Candidates for the Mayor of Belgrade, except DSS, agreed today that the Pride Parade should be held in Belgrade, with the emphasis that it is necessary to ensure the safety of the participants and the city. The only one that was decidedly against it was Aleksandar Popović from the Democratic Party of Serbia.

Vračar’s Board of the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) has organized a major political debate last night in the hall of Vračar municipality in Belgrade. For Nikola Milosavljević, Tamara Laketić and Nebojša Otović, activists of Gay Straight Alliance (GSA; Alliance), this was a good opportunity to, within the GSA campaign “Your Vote, Your Tomorrow”, visit the SNS election rally and to find out directly from the representatives of this political party what are their views on LGBT population’s rights.

The Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) on Monday, February the 17th, held its Belgrade election convention. Željko Ožegović, LDP candidate for Mayor of Belgrade, stated at the convention that if he wins the election, as Belgrade Mayor, he would headed the Pride Parade, and all other protests aimed at defending the right to be different.

After criticism which, according to earlier announced by Serbian daily newspaper Večernje Novosti, a large part of the Bosniak community has sent message to Sandžak’s Mufti Muamer Zukorlić because of the electoral coalition between the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) and the Bosniak Sandzak Democratic Union (BDZS), whose founder is Zukorlić, and his earlier statement to local television “Sandžak” that there will be no concessions to LDP because of their liberal policy towards the LGBT community, Islamic Community (IZ) in Serbia announces on this occasion today.

Unlike the campaign from the 2012, during which he did not mention LGBT people, one of the most homophobic politicians in Serbia, Dragan Marković Palma, a president of the United Serbia party (JS), has raised his voice yesterday in the daily newspaper “Politika”, as part of the interview published under the title:  “No government without our coalition”.

Gay Straight Alliance’s (GSA; Alliance) activists attended a press conference which took place in Belgrade’s Media center, following the signing of a coalition agreement between the New Democratic Party (NDS), Together for Serbia (ZZS) and the League of Social Democrats of Vojvodina (LSV).

The signing of the coalition agreement between political parties Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) and the Bosniak Democratic Community of Sandžak (BDZS), whose founder is Sandžak Mufti Muamer Zukorlić, has triggered many comments on the social networks in Sandžak, many of them being offensive ones.

RIK (The Republic Electoral Commission) announced today the list of candidates for MPs of the Serbian Radical Party (SRS) for the upcoming Serbian parliamentary elections, scheduled for March 16th.
